Today in class we practiced numbers, and learned the following new words:
People:
la mujer- woman
el hombre- man
la chica- girl
el chico- boy
la muchacha- girl
el muchacho- boy
el senor- Mr.
la senora- Mrs.
la senorita- Miss
el amigo- friend (male)
la amiga- friend (female)
la familia- family
Professions:
el/la doctor/a- doctor
el/la estudiante- student
el/la maestro/a- teacher
el/la policia- police person
We worked on the numbers, 1-10, and did a few exercises and pages in the textbook. (pg. 28-33).
We learned some new action words (verbs) as part of TPR (total physical response):
lee (leer= to read)
escribe (escribir= to write)
estudia (estudiar= to study)
trabaja (trabajar= to work)
nada (nadar= to swim)
patina (patinar= to skate)
Old TPR words:
come (comer= to eat)
bebe (beber= to drink)
camina (caminar= to walk)
corre (correr= to run)
salta (saltar= to jump)
baila (bailar= to dance)
canta (cantar= to sing)
da una vuelta = circle around
We also introduced the pronouns in Spanish:
yo = I
tu = you
el = he
ella = she
usted = you (formal, used with someone you are showing respect to with your speech.)
nosotros = we
ellos = they (masculine)
ellas = they (feminine)
ustedes = you all (you plural)
